Simple DIY Coffee Shower Scrub for Rejuvenation
When it comes to winding down for the evening one of the best activities you can do for your mental health is treat yourself to a bit of self-love in the form of spa time!
Now we don’t all have time to get out the candles, pour a glass of Champagne, put on a facemask, run a bubble bath and read a good book, every night! (we wish!)
This is where our favourite Simple Coconut Coffee Shower Scrub comes in!
It’s a delicious way to exfoliate the skin and smells amazing! Make a batch earlier in the week and use on those busy work nights when you need extra rejuvenation or a pick-me-up. For extra points save your coffee grounds from your morning cup!
Here is the best DIY Coffee Scrub recipe direct from the Bali Spa at Goddess Retreats, as part of our health retreat recipes.
What you need for this at home Spa Treatment:
2 Tablespoons of ground coffee
2 Tablespoons of coconut oil
1 Teaspoon of olive oil
1 Teaspoon of sea salt and/or raw sugar.
– When you make yourself a coffee, save the grounds and let them air dry. When ready to make the Coffee Scrub add these grounds to a bowl.
– Soften the Coconut Oil in the microwave
– Mix all ingredients together and put into a shower safe container. Add more coffee, or more oil depending on the consistency you prefer.
– Use when you shower and apply in circle motions to the body, scrubbing the areas that need exfoliation.
– Wash off and pat yourself dry.
You will notice immediately how smooth, healthy and moisturized your skin is left feeling.
But the benefits go further than that!
Coffee scrub is great to use in both morning and evening showers to get rid of dull, dead cells on your skin’s surface which lead to brighter skin and as a result leaving you feeling refreshed and reinvigorated! Coffee grounds also reduce the appearance of cellulite by plumping up the skin and the simple act of scrubbing your body is enough to improve circulation by getting your blood moving through your veins.
Coffee’s antioxidant properties can help combat fine lines and wrinkles and help repair sun damage. Whether it’s sun spots, freckles or hyper pigmentation, a coffee scrub can help new cell turnover and rids your skin of those unwanted spots.
While the oils help moisturise (so you don’t have to do it afterwards – how’s that for a time saver!) The medium-chain fatty acids found in coconut oil also possess antimicrobial properties that protect the skin from harmful bacteria.
