Wellbeing retreat in Bali - Goddess Retreats
Creating a Space for Everyone to Enjoy

As Goddess Retreats is a group experience, you’ll have the chance to enjoy the unique pleasures of traveling with a diverse group of women from all around the world, spanning different age groups and backgrounds. While this can be enriching, it may also present occasional challenges. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding, as we all navigate the different needs and preferences of your fellow goddesses. This spirit of cooperation helps ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Participate as Much or as Little as You Like

At Goddess Retreats, there are no obligations or expectations. You’re free to participate in as many activities as you wish, or simply take time for yourself. While we strive to accommodate individual preferences, our retreat itinerary has been carefully refined over the years to offer the best experience for the group as a whole.

Your retreat program strikes a balance between structured group activities and plenty of personal time to unwind, reflect, or explore at your own pace.

Customizing Your Experience

If you’d like to arrange additional activities during your stay, our retreat leaders are more than happy to assist. However, please note that while we do our best to meet personal requests, we are unable to alter the set retreat schedule to accommodate individual plans. If you already know you’d like to add extra activities to your week, we recommend letting us know before your arrival, as most of our partnered practitioners and providers require advance bookings as they are often fully booked for the week.

Hotel Transfers

If you’re moving to other accommodations in Bali, we offer a complimentary transfer within our Seminyak or Ubud transfer zones.

For locations outside these areas, we can assist in arranging transport at your expense, typically ranging between $10 – $50 USD, depending on the destination.

Our Team Can’t Wait to Meet You

On this retreat, you’ll be supported by a diverse team of experts, not just one group leader. Our Goddess Retreats Team is made up of several retreat leaders, guides, professionally qualified instructors, and practitioners, all dedicated to ensuring your stay is extraordinary. Each member brings their own expertise to provide you with the best care and attention during your retreat.

Your Trip Supports the Local Community

By joining a Goddess Retreat, you’re directly contributing to the local Balinese community. We are proud to employ almost 100 local people full-time, and for more than 20 years, we’ve partnered with other Balinese businesses to help support the local economy and their families. In addition to our retreat hostesses, we work with carefully selected local operators who provide the highest level of service in their respective fields. Your retreat experience helps sustain and strengthen Bali’s economy as a whole.

Your Trip Spreads the Love

When you choose a Goddess Retreat, you are also supporting meaningful causes in Bali. We donate 10% of our profits to reputable charities that focus on protecting Bali’s nature and animals, providing brighter futures for children, and supporting underprivileged women and their families.

Starting in 2020, we launched our own Goddess Kitchen initiative, where our team prepared and distributed meals to families deeply impacted by the Covid-19 crisis. Since then, we’ve partnered with Crisis Kitchen Bali to continue this important work, offering ongoing financial support. We are especially proud that some of our core team members today come from the families we’ve helped over the years, and we’re delighted to provide them with training, employment, and new opportunities.

From 2022 what have expanded our efforts to support Little Steps Matter, a charity dedicated to reducing the suffering of unwanted animals in Bali. If you have room in your suitcase, we encourage you to bring along dog food, flea and tick treatments, dewormers, or other pet medications to donate.

What to Pack for Your Bali Retreat

What Should I Bring?

We often get asked, “What should I pack for my retreat?” While we always say to bring an open mind, a sense of humor, and an adventurous spirit, here’s a more practical packing list to help you prepare for Bali’s hot and humid weather (typically 30+°C / 86+°F year-round).

Essentials
  • Light, Breathable Clothing: Think T-shirts, shorts, sundresses, and anything that helps you stay cool.
  • Several Swimsuits: Perfect for beach days and pool lounging.
  • Yoga Wear: Comfy, stretchy tops and bottoms are great for your yoga practice. While we provide textured mats that grip well in tropical weather, consider bringing a yoga mat towel if you prefer extra non-slip comfort.
  • Comfortable Sandals or Flip-Flops: Bali is very hot, and casual dressing is expected. Sandals or flip flops are acceptable in most restaurants, and make it easy to visit markets, galleries or beaches.
  • One Pair of Sturdy Sneakers: Essential for activities like hiking, cycling, or walking tours.
  • Lightweight Windbreaker: Handy for morning or evening hikes, and during breezy outdoor activities.
  • One Layer for Travel: A cozy layer for chilly airplanes or airports.
  • Prescription medication (if required)
  • Book or e-reader
  • Bank Cards and Cash: It’s important to be well prepared in Bali, with a few points of access to cash. We recommend bringing a couple of bank cards, and some cash in the local currency of Indonesian Rupiah.
  • Phone and Related Accessories:These days, a smartphone is more or less an essential item when travelling. Making sure you bring your smartphone, charger, adapater (we have universal plugs at our retreats)
  • Optional: Yoga Grip Towel – that helps to make yoga mat non-slip in the tropics plus easily transitions to a gym, travel, surf or beach towel.
  • Optional for Surfers: Surf leggings offer excellent sun protection and help prevent irritation from board wax and skin friction. Pair them with your favorite rash guard for added comfort, although communal-use rash guard tops are provided.

Sun & Insect Protection
  • Sunglasses & a Hat: For sun protection during your outdoor adventures.
  • Sunscreen: We recommend bringing your own sunscreen, as we only provide it during surf lessons.
  • Insect Repellent: Although we use natural insect repellents at the villa, if you’re prone to mosquito bites or need something stronger, it’s best to bring a personal supply.

Health & Comfort
  • Water Bottle: We kindly recommend bringing your own reusable water bottle to help you stay hydrated throughout your retreat. Bali’s tropical heat can quickly lead to dehydration, which may cause headaches, dizziness, or nausea. Having your own bottle allows you to easily refill from our water stations and stay refreshed, plus it’s an eco-friendly choice!
  • When traveling to new places like Asia, it’s helpful to have a few essentials in your medical kit for peace of mind. Items like Imodium and Peppermint capsules can be handy for settling your stomach if you encounter new foods. Including electrolyte sachets and basic pain relievers ensures you’re prepared for long days in the sun. Consider adding antihistamines for any mild allergies and insect repellent for tropical areas. Dramamine or Bonine can help with nausea and motion sickness. These simple items can help you feel comfortable and enjoy your trip with ease.

Special Add-Ons

Bali’s Little Steps Matter Charity: If you have a little extra room in your luggage, consider bringing items to donate. Dry food, simple flea, tick and deworming treatments or food for dogs are always needed. In Bali you are also welcome to buy a bag of rice or dog food to donate to the charity when you are in Bali. It’s a great way to give back to the local community!

What Can I Buy in Bali?

Bali is a shopper’s paradise, offering an array of affordable and beautiful items—from handmade crafts to designer boutiques. Even if you’re not a big shopper, you’ll likely be tempted by the fantastic bargains!

Packing Tip: Bring less than you think you need and leave room in your suitcase for the treasures you’ll find on your trip home!

Can I bring alcohol on my retreat?
Most of our guests enjoy the retreat to explore the great health benefits of taking a break from alcohol as part of their commitment to wellness. For the comfort of all our guests, we prefer if our guests do not consume alcohol while on the retreat premises. We believe all things are great in moderation, and if you wish to enjoy a few drinks while out and about in Bali, we respect your personal choice.
Extra Time In Bali
Many of our guests enjoy spending extra time in Bali and we are always happy to assist you with suggestions for Pre or Post Retreat arrangements. You can simply send us an email with any information you need.Enjoy your preparations for a holiday of a life time and we look forward to welcoming your soon!
How much money should I bring to Bali?
As this is mostly an all-inclusive retreat, the only things you will need to pay for are personal incidentals, shopping, tips and the 2 meals that are not included in the retreat package (to allow you to explore the fabulous restaurants nearby).Cash is still widely used in Bali especially in markets, smaller shops and cafes. If you wish to go shopping during your stay in Bali, there are many ATMs and money changers nearby which our guides are happy to help you access. Plus, most larger shops and restaurants have credit card facilities.
What you don’t need to bring
Expensive Jewellery: Our itinerary is full of activities. It’s very easy to lose jewllery or valuables when travelling, so it’s best to leave these at home. Warm jumpers and winter coats: Bali’s weather is far too hot for typical winter clothing. In fact, given it’s location close to the equator, Bali doesn’t experience winter weather – so leave heavy clothing at home. Beach towels and Yoga Mats: We will supply these for you.
