Luckily, we have rounded up the best methods and changes from our detox retreats, which you can make today to kick your body into detox mood, fast. Read on to learn the 5 easy ways to detox in 24 hours.
Starting with something that takes very minimal effort! Getting enough sleep is one of the best ways to detox and reset your body.
To help induce sleep make sure your room temperature is between 18 – 22 degrees Celsius or 64.4 – 71.6 Fahrenheit, keep the space dark and free from blinking lights of computer screens and powerpoints.
During busy December you should be making getting enough sleep one of your highest priorities. When this essential need is met, all aspects of your life will be easier to tackle and achieve. Over the long term, Sleep can help with weight loss, reduced cortisol levels, minimising stress, and improving overall health.
Drink a big glass of water right before you go to sleep and right after you wake. When you think about it, we spend 7+ (hopefully 8+) hours not hydrating, so it’s important to energise and refresh ourselves and our cells upon waking. At night, our body repairs itself and casts out all the toxins in the body. When you drink water on an empty stomach in the morning, you will flush out these harmful toxins, leaving your body fresh. Add a squeeze of lemon or lime into warm water in the morning to help stimulate the gastrointestinal tract and increase the detox.
Another great way to help increase your detox is with smoothies! As Goddess Retreats we love our morning juices, as delicious ways to start the day and get a kick of vitamins and minerals. Click here for our four best smoothies, for every occasion. Including a very tasty Green Juice.
Sitting at a desk all day can take its toll on your posture and your mood, but also stop your body from detoxing successfully. Take a break once an hour, even if only for five minutes, to stretch and move around! This gets your blood flowing and your heart rate up, leading to a mood boost! Keeping your joints flexible and can also lower inflammation. Stay motivated and detox from stress by doing a few stretches throughout the day. Once you have left the office for the day try this after office Yoga flow to help you unwind.
Cold showers can lower stress, speed up muscle recovery and improve immunity. Hot showers, on the other hand, relieve tension and congestion and help you sleep better. So which do you go for? The answer is simple! The contrast shower!
Get in the shower and turn the temperature up to hot! (at least hotter than you normally would have) Then alternate to as cold as it will go for 30 seconds. Then back to hot! Work up to staying under each for 5 minutes at a time.
Showering this way give you the benefits of both shower types while also improving circulation drastically. The hot water triggers the body’s natural toxin elimination through sweating, while the cold improves the body’s antioxidant functioning – these together detoxify!
Sunshine provides us with vital vitamin D, the healing hormone, that has been known to lower inflammation, lower blood pressure, increase happiness, improvements in muscle tone, brain function, and even cancer protection!
Go for a walk and embrace the Sunshine on your face. For even more therapy while your outside try Shinrin-yoku, or “forest bathing.” This is a Japanese term for being in nature in order to gain the physical benefits it can offer. Don’t live near a forest? Try the beach, a park, an indoor greenhouse, or even a hotel courtyard. Nature can be found almost anywhere! With benefits from improved mood, immunity, focus to help sleeping and healing from illness, being out and about in the sun and in nature need to be on your December to do list.
