Goddess Retreats Review

Solo Travel for Women

Why is solo travel such a powerful experience for women?

Solo travel offers women a rare opportunity to step outside daily roles and rediscover who they are beyond routines and responsibilities. It is a journey of self-trust, freedom and transformation—one that builds confidence from the inside out.

1. It reconnects you with your inner voice
When women travel alone, they have the space to listen to their own rhythm. Without outside expectations, decisions come from intuition rather than obligation. This sense of agency strengthens self-awareness and self-respect—core elements of lasting wellness.

2. It cultivates independence and confidence
Solo travel reminds women of their own capability. Each choice—from booking a flight to exploring a new environment—becomes an act of empowerment. Many guests describe returning home with renewed self-belief and a deeper understanding of what truly brings them joy.

3. It allows for real rest and renewal
Travelling alone gives permission to rest deeply, to rise when you wish, eat when you’re hungry, and move at your own pace. It is a chance to slow down and care for your body and mind without distraction or pressure to please others.

4. It invites authentic connection
Paradoxically, being alone often leads to deeper connection. On a women’s retreat, solo travellers meet others who share similar intentions—to heal, to grow, to begin again. These friendships form naturally through shared experiences and become a meaningful part of the journey.

5. It becomes an act of self-love
For many women, travelling alone is more than an adventure—it is a declaration of self-worth. It says, I am enough on my own. In that space of independence and reflection, profound healing and clarity often unfold.

Why do so many women choose Bali for solo wellness retreats?

Yoga classes, healing ceremonies, cooking classes, temple visits, and guided nature tours are perfect for solo women. Many women also come to Bali for wellness retreats, where everything from daily yoga and spa treatments to meals and airport pickups are taken care of making solo travel feel easy and rewarding.
Where are the safest places to stay in Bali as a solo woman?
Popular and well-developed areas such as Ubud, Seminyak, and Canggu are ideal for solo travelers. They offer safe accommodations, walkable areas, great food, wellness activities, and supportive communities. For extra peace of mind, staying at women-only retreats like Goddess Retreats ensures a secure, nurturing environment designed for solo travelers.

Staying in areas like Ubud or Seminyak offers a balance of culture, convenience, and comfort.

Travel

Do I need travel insurance to join a retreat?

Yes. All guests are required to have valid travel insurance to join a Goddess Retreat. It’s an important part of preparing for your journey and ensures peace of mind in case of unexpected changes, travel delays, or medical needs during your trip.

Your policy should include coverage for trip cancellation, travel interruptions, and emergency medical care. We also recommend checking that your plan includes wellness or retreat activities. Having travel insurance helps you relax and fully enjoy your retreat experience, knowing you’re supported and protected from the moment you begin your travels.

Is Goddess Retreats suitable for solo female travellers?

Yes — Goddess Retreats is one of the best choices in the world for solo female travel. Around 80% of our guests join the retreat on their own, and quickly discover how effortless it feels to travel solo while being fully supported.

Our women’s retreats are designed to help you connect with yourself and with like-minded women from around the world. You’ll enjoy shared experiences, daily wellness activities, and plenty of personal time — all within a safe, caring, and uplifting environment.

Many of our guests form lifelong friendships during their stay and leave feeling inspired, confident, and reconnected. Whether it’s your first solo trip or your tenth, Goddess Retreats offers a welcoming sanctuary where you can travel alone and never feel alone.

How old do I need to be to join a women’s wellness retreat with Goddess Retreats?

Goddess Retreats is designed as an adult women’s retreat experience, and most of our guests are in their late 20s through early 50s. We welcome women of all ages who feel drawn to rest, reconnect, and renew in a supportive environment.

Younger guests are also welcome when accompanied by a mother or female family member. They can join if they are comfortable in an adult-oriented setting and can appreciate the reflective, healing pace of the retreat.

Each program is created to meet women wherever they are on their journey — whether discovering wellness for the first time or deepening a long-held practice of self-care and growth.

Healing Retreats

What types of healing are offered?

Expect a mix of energy healing, sound baths, unlimited SPA, breathwork, guided meditation, and traditional rituals.

Are Balinese spiritual ceremonies included on a Healing Retreat in Bali?

Our Healing Goddess Retreat offers a rich variety of authentic Balinese and Javanese spiritual healing experiences, allowing each woman to reconnect with her inner self through sacred cultural and holistic practices.

Guests are invited to take part in Balinese temple blessings, Tirta Empul water purification ceremonies, and Tridesna Malukat rituals, all facilitated by experienced local priests and healers. We also offer Javanese energy purification, Hindu Vedic numerology, and chakra and aura cleansing to harmonise your energy and restore balance.

Many guests are drawn to our traditional Balinese healer, known for combining palm readings, deep tissue therapy, herbal remedies, and intuitive energy work — much like the beloved healer featured in Eat, Pray, Love.

Every experience is guided with cultural respect and personal care, so you can connect intuitively with the healers and practices that resonate most deeply with your spiritual path.

Can I attend a retreat alone? Is it safe?

Absolutely. Many solo travelers join healing retreats in Seminyak, which offer airport transfers, secure accommodations, and a supportive community.

Can I customize my experience?
Your retreat experience is thoughtfully curated, so full customization isn’t available. However, you can personalize your stay by choosing from our wide range of Bliss Activities, allowing you to enjoy what resonates most with you.
What Is a Healing Retreat?

A healing retreat can mean many things to different women, but at its heart, it’s a journey of coming home to yourself. It’s about feeling safe within your own body, releasing past emotional wounds or physical stress, and gently guiding your system back into balance.

At Goddess Retreats, our Healing Goddess program offers a holistic approach to transformation — a nervous system reset on a spiritual level. Through wellness practices, spa therapies, and sessions with a variety of traditional and alternative holistic healers, you’ll reconnect with your higher self and rediscover your natural state of peace, vitality, and joy.

Guests are encouraged to follow their intuition and work with the healers who feel right for them. Nourishing holistic meals, gentle movement, and sacred rest all support the body in returning to homeostasis — a place of harmony, self-love, and renewed energy.

This is more than an escape; it’s a transformative realignment that restores emotional balance, physical vitality, and spiritual connection.

Can I attend a healing retreat solo? Is it safe?

Yes — many women attend Goddess Retreats on their own, and our Healing Goddess Retreat is designed to be a safe and supportive environment for solo travellers.

We understand that travelling solo can feel daunting at first, which is why our retreat hosts and property team are always available to assist you throughout your stay. You’ll be warmly welcomed from the moment you arrive and cared for by a team who ensures you feel comfortable, connected, and at ease.

Our retreats are small and community-oriented, creating an atmosphere where solo travellers quickly form meaningful friendships. We also have on-site security and private drivers to ensure your peace of mind.

Joining a healing retreat solo is a beautiful opportunity to reconnect with yourself — and you’ll never feel alone in the company of other like-minded women.

Are healing retreats good for stress, burnout, and nervous system recovery?

A healing retreat can be one of the most effective ways to recover from chronic stress, burnout, and emotional exhaustion. Our Healing Goddess Retreat is designed to help calm the nervous system, restore deep rest, and bring your body and mind back into balance.

Through a blend of holistic therapies, restorative yoga, spa treatments, and energy-healing sessions, guests experience what we call a nervous system reset—a return to feeling grounded, calm, and centred. Our wellness cuisine and gentle movement practices also support better sleep, hormone balance, and energy renewal, making the retreat especially beneficial for women experiencing fatigue, anxiety, or menopause-related stress.

Beyond physical relaxation, each retreat offers emotional and spiritual healing—helping you reconnect with your inner peace, restore vitality, and leave with tools to maintain balance in everyday life.

Do retreats include Balinese cultural ceremonies?
Yes! Our Ubud Healing Retreat immerses you in authentic Balinese traditions, including a sacred water purification ritual at Tirta Empul Temple, blessings with local Balinese healers, and enriching cultural workshops that connect you to the island’s deep spiritual heritage.

Wellness Retreats

Do I have to participate in all activities?

Not at all. This is your time, and there are no “shoulds” on retreat. You can join in as many experiences as you like, or simply spend your days resting, reflecting, or moving gently at your own pace.

While we provide a beautiful schedule of daily offerings, there is never any expectation to do it all. You’re free to drift in and out of activities as you feel called. Everything is designed to give you space — to listen to yourself, to rest deeply, and to let your retreat unfold naturally.

Can I travel solo on my wellness retreat?

Absolutely. In fact, most of our guests join us on their own. Goddess Retreats was created as a sanctuary for women to travel solo with confidence. Our women’s retreats are a place where you can arrive as you are and feel instantly at ease.

From the moment you’re greeted at the airport, you’ll be cared for by our team and supported within a small, welcoming community of like-minded women. Whether you crave solitude, meaningful conversation, or shared laughter over dinner, you’ll find the perfect balance of privacy and connection.

Many of our guests tell us their solo retreat became one of the most empowering and healing experiences of their lives. It’s a rare opportunity to put yourself first, rediscover your inner voice, and return home renewed, inspired, and deeply centered in who you are.

Hairdryers, robes, and toiletries are provided, so you can travel light. Most importantly, come with an open heart and a curious spirit—the true essentials for any women’s wellness retreat.

How do I choose the right wellness retreat for me?

Choosing the right retreat begins with listening to where you are in your life right now. Ask yourself what your heart and body are craving most — rest, inspiration, healing, or a deeper sense of connection. Each of our Goddess Retreats is thoughtfully designed to meet women at different stages of their journey.

If you long to reconnect with your inner peace and restore your energy, our Wellness Goddess Retreat offers a nurturing space for reflection, healing, and spiritual renewal. For those drawn to movement and vitality, our Pilates, or Fitness Retreats bring the joy of physical strength and mindful balance. If you’re ready for transformation on a deeper level, our Healing Goddess Retreat combines traditional Balinese therapies with holistic wellness to help you release, realign, and renew.

No matter which retreat you choose, every experience is guided by the same intention — to help you feel more like yourself again. From private villas and daily rituals to our compassionate team who walk beside you throughout your stay, each retreat offers both structure and freedom, allowing your journey to unfold naturally.

When you choose the retreat that resonates with how you want to feel,  peaceful, strong, inspired, or whole,  you’ve already begun the path back to yourself.

Spa Treatments

When will I be able to have the spa services during my retreat?

At Goddess Retreats, you can enjoy spa treatments from the moment you arrive until the day you depart. Our spa experiences are an essential part of your retreat, designed to help you unwind and restore balance throughout your stay.

Spa opening hours vary slightly depending on the retreat location, but there is always plenty of time each day for your included massages and wellness treatments. Whether you prefer a morning ritual, an afternoon indulgence or evening deep restore, our team will help you schedule your sessions to suit your personal rhythm.

What do you mean by ‘Unlimited Spa Treatments’?

Our Unlimited Spa Pampering means that, if it’s included in your retreat package, you can enjoy as many spa treatments as you wish throughout your stay — there are no fixed limits on the number of massages or therapies you can book.

You are welcome to schedule treatments any time the spa is open, usually from early morning until evening. While there are daily activities and experiences on your retreat program, you are always free to choose how you spend your personal time — whether that’s joining a class, relaxing by the pool, or indulging in another blissful massage.

Please note that with our Unlimited Pampering Package, one evening spa appointment (between 8pm and 10pm) is included per day. Apart from that, there are no other booking restrictions during regular spa opening hours.

Your time here is truly yours to unwind, restore, and be completely cared for.

How do I book my spa treatments during my women’s wellness retreat?

In some locations, you may be asked before arrival if you’d like to begin your retreat with a spa treatment. If so, our team will reserve your first session in advance so you can unwind as soon as you arrive.

Once you’re at the retreat, your personal Retreat Host will sit down with you to plan your spa experiences. Because each day includes a variety of wellness activities, booking your treatments about 24 hours in advance ensures your preferred times are available.

We’ve found that guests enjoy their spa time most when they book daily rather than scheduling the entire week in advance. This allows you to stay flexible, follow your own rhythm, and make the most of our spa pampering experience.

Where will I have my spa treatments?
We have a team of experienced trained spa therapists who have worked with us for years, lovingly pampering our Goddess guests in a variety of locations on our retreat property. We offer spa treatments in spa rooms and around the pool for more relaxed therapies. We also have a number of private spa rooms in our private pool villas, so you don’t even need to leave the comfort of your private villa.
What services to you offer on your Ubud retreat?
At Ubud we offer massage, body scrubs and other therapies including special flower baths provided by professional massage therapists in the 8 room spa set on the property and several areas around the villa such as poolside and on our super size lounges that are wonderful for providing treatments for multiple guests at a time.
Will I have enough time to enjoy multiple spa treatments each day?

Yes — absolutely. With our Unlimited Spa Pampering offer, you’ll have plenty of time to indulge in multiple treatments each day. Your retreat host will be happy to help you plan your spa schedule so you can make the most of your time while still enjoying all your chosen retreat activities.

Some times of day are naturally more popular, but with a little advance planning and guidance from your host, you’ll be able to enjoy hours of pampering daily. You can even dedicate an entire Bliss Day to spa treatments, complete with an exclusive Floating Wellness Lunch for the ultimate indulgence.

Please note that with our Unlimited Pampering Package, one after-dinner spa booking is included during the week due to the popularity of that evening time slot.

What spa products do you use?
We look to nature for the majority of our spa products. We use traditional Balinese healing herbs and plants as our guide. Our products are sulfate-free and paraben-free, and are sourced to support local businesses.  We mainly use custom blended small batch productions by certified spa product producers who follow eco-friendly standards and purchase flowers, nuts, and fruits directly from the local farmers at fair market prices. From time to time, products used in the services listed on this website may be unavailable, but we will let you know in advance and will always offer a beautiful alternative treatment for you to enjoy.

Over the course of the week, you’ll enjoy multiple surf lessons, giving you ample time to develop your skills and gain confidence in the water. We find that this time allows for progression each day without over taxing the body, so you can bounce back fresh in the water each morning. Our schedule also includes free time to relax, enjoy the spa, or explore Bali between surf sessions.
Is the retreat only about surfing, or can I participate in other activities?

Can I come to the retreat alone?

Yoga & Meditation

I’m an advanced yogi — will your yoga retreat suit me?

If you’re an experienced yogini, you’ll find that our women’s yoga retreats offer a beautiful way to travel, reconnect, and enjoy your personal practice in inspiring locations. Our yoga is designed to be supportive of your overall retreat experience, rather than the main focus of it.

Sessions are typically gentle and restorative — balancing the body after more active experiences such as surfing, hiking, or cultural excursions. This approach also supports those going through healing and wellness processes, helping to aid detox, recovery, and restoration.

Our classes draw from yin-inspired and mindful movement practices that harmonise with the retreat’s rhythm of rejuvenation. While suited for experienced practitioners seeking balance and self-care, this is not a yoga-intensive retreat. If you are looking for Ashtanga, Power Yoga, or advanced teacher-training immersion, our program may not be the right fit.
